Japanese strawberries are in season from winter to spring. Each region has its own brand varieties, such as Tochiotome in Tochigi and Amaou in Fukuoka. You can also try strawberry picking, called いちご狩り Ichigogari, where you can pick your own strawberries and eat them freshly picked.

Tamagoyaki, a Japanese omelette, gets its beautiful shape from a special square frying pan. The seasoned egg mixture is poured into the pan in layers, rolled carefully each time. You can achieve a perfectly square, rolled omelette, but it takes practice to handle the pan well.

Colourful salad with syungiku-green(Crown daisy), persimmon and purple radish. The small white fish in the dressing are small sardines called ‘Shirasu’.
